(a) What is a hobby?

Ans : A hobby is an activity that you enjoy doing in your spare time.

(b) What do hobbies give us?

Ans : Hobbies give us pleasure and enjoyment.

(c) What is philately? What difficulty would you face if you take up philately?

Ans : The collecting and study of stamps is called philately. The communication system has changed. People mostly use E-mail, SMS, MMS etc for communication. Nowadays people do not write letter So, it is becoming difficult to get stamps easily.

(d) What is Irfan’s hobby? What does he like to do?

Ans : Irfan’s hobby is painting. He likes to sit and paint landscapes.

(e) Name a few indoor and outdoor hobbies.

Ans: The indoor and outdoor hobbies are as follow:-

(i) Indoor activities are: Collecting stamps, coins, listening to music, and reading books are indoor activities.

(ii) Outdoor activities:- Gardening, travelling, swimming, trekking, photography are outdoor activities.

Playing and painting are both indoor and outdoor activities.

(f) What is a kitchen garden?

Ans : Kitchen garden is growing fruits and vegetables at the backyard of house by using kitchen waste water.

(g) “Every morning I water the plants and clean the beds.”-what does ‘bed’ mean here?

Ans : ‘Bed’ here means the piece of ground where plants or vegetables are grown.
