Q.10. Present age of Tagar is 10 years. Her sister Malati’s age is two times of her age. What is the ratio of their present age? What was the ratio of their age 5 years ago and what will be the ratio after 5 years?

Arrange these ratios in ascending order.

Ans: Present age of Tagor = 10 years

Her sister Maloti’s present age = 10 x 2 = 20 years

∴ Ratio of their present ages = 10 / 20 = 1/2 = 1: 2

Again, the ratio of their ages 5 years after

∴ The ratios in ascending order = 1/3, 1/2, 3/5

12. Divide ₹ 145 in the ratio 1: 4.

Ans: Rs. 145 will be divided in the ratio 1:4

= Rs. 29 x 4 = Rs. 116

∴ Rs. 29 and Rs. 116

13. ₹ 145 is divided into two parts in a certain ratio One of the part is ₹ 27. Find the ratio taking ₹ 27 as the antecedent of the ratio.

Ans: Rs. 145 is divided into two parts in a certain ratio.

One part = Rs. 27

and other part = Rs. (145-27) = Rs. 118

∴ The reqd. ratio = 27 : 118.

14. Minakshi earns ₹90,000 and saves ₹30,000. From her savings she gives half to the charity. Find the ratio of money she earns to the money she donate to charity.

Ans: Minakshi earns = ₹90,000

Minakshi’s savings = ₹30,000

She donate half of its salary = 30000/2

= 15000

Ratio of money she earn to the money she donate = 90000/15000

= 6 : 1
